Candle Care

Safety Tips
Candles should never be left unattended. Burn on a flat, heat resistant surface away from any flammable materials. Keep away from children and pets. Witch City Wicks is not responsible for user misuse and negligence.

Soy Wax
Soy candles should never remain lit for longer than 2-3 hours at a time to prevent tunneling or overheating the jar. Always let the candle cool completely before relighting. Once the wax has burned down to about 1/2″, please discontinue use. You don’t want to scorch the furniture or risk cracking the glass! Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Keep your wick trimmed
People ask me all the time if this is necessary and it is if you want to minimize the amount of soot that your candle produces. You want to make sure that your wick is trimmed to 1/8' or 1/4″ and be careful not to trim it shorter than that, otherwise your flame will be drowned out by melted wax.

All candles produce some sort of soot, but soy candles produce 95% less soot than a paraffin candle (if burned correctly). If your soy candle is producing soot, make sure your wick is properly trimmed and that it’s not burning in a drafty area.

Scents and scent throw
Our candles are made with the recommended amount of oils by our fragrance suppliers. We take great care making sure we make the most fragrant candles we can, but some fragrance oils are stronger than others.

Keep in mind the size of the candle jar you’re burning. The bigger the room, the bigger candle (or number of candles) you will need to fill it up with fragrance. If you’re having a hard time smelling it, simply put it in a smaller room or try a simple solution like leaving the room and re-enter it after a few minutes.
